What are the actual disadvantages of ceramic coating?
Upfront cost, first. Second, it demands decent wash habits; neglect still ruins coated paint, just slower. Third, poor application can leave high spots, which is why installer certification matters more than brand. It is a good product with limits, not a miracle.
Is it worth it for a daily commuter on the Sawgrass Expressway?
If you are keeping the car three-plus years, highway commuting is the strongest case there is: constant road film, bug season, and sun exposure are exactly what coatings neutralize. Short ownership horizon? The math gets thin, and we will say so.
