Car Mold Removal
in Boca Raton

The Boca mold call comes in November. A car that was left in a garage in Boca West, Broken Sound or a Mizner Park deck in April, windows up, battery tender on, comes back to an owner who opens the door to a wall of musty air and white fuzz on the leather. Seven months sealed in a Florida summer will do that to any car. The rest of the year it is the AC drain, clogged with the fine dust from reclaimed-water irrigation, backing up under the passenger carpet. We kill the colony, extract it, dry the cabin and document what let the moisture in.

The Service

What car mold removal actually involves

Mold in a car is not a stain. It is a living colony rooted in seat foam, carpet padding, headliner fabric and the evaporator core of the air conditioner, and it releases spores every time the blower runs. Wiping the visible fuzz off the seats removes the symptom for a week. Removal means killing the colony, extracting the residue and drying the cabin so it cannot restart.

In Boca Raton the service runs as a full biological decontamination: contents out, HEPA vacuum, 212°F steam on every hard and soft surface, Koch Chemie antimicrobial treatment, heated extraction of seats and carpet, HVAC vent treatment, and a forced-dry before we hand the car back. We also identify what let the water in, because mold always has a source.

The protocol

8 steps. Every mold job.

The same sequence in a Broken Sound garage, an east Boca driveway or our Doral studio for the worst cases.

01
Inspection
We find the source first: AC drain, door seal, sunroof channel, a window left open, or a car that simply sat. Photos and a moisture reading.
02
Contents & HEPA
Everything out, mats out, then a HEPA vacuum on every surface so spores are captured, not scattered into the cabin air.
03
Steam 212°F
Dry steam on dashboard, panels, seat surfaces, belts, headliner and vents. Heat kills mold without chemical residue.
04
Antimicrobial
Koch Chemie antimicrobial applied to fabric, foam and carpet and left to dwell. This is what stops the regrowth.
05
Heated extraction
Seats and carpet shampooed and extracted with heated water, pulling dead colony and residue out of the foam.
06
HVAC treatment
Vents and blower housing treated; cabin filter checked. If the evaporator is the source, we say so and quote the add-on.
07
Forced dry
Air movers and, if needed, a dehumidifier until the moisture reading is back to normal. A damp cabin restarts the problem.
08
Verification
Visual and smell check, photos, and a written note of the water source so it does not happen again.
Boca Raton · Why mold grows here

Why Boca cars grow mold while nobody is looking.

Seven months sealed

Boca's seasonal rhythm is the root of most of its mold. Cars are left in April in garages across Boca West, Broken Sound, Woodfield, St. Andrews and the downtown condos, and garages in a Boca summer sit at 80 percent humidity for months. A sealed cabin reaches dew point, condensation forms on the glass and the leather every night, and by August there is a colony in the seat foam and the carpet padding. We treat dozens of these every October and November, often before the owner lands, so the car is dry and verified when they open the door.

The AC drain and irrigation dust

The reclaimed water that irrigates the west communities leaves a fine mineral dust on everything, including the cowl at the base of the windshield where the AC pulls in air. That dust ends up in the drain tube, the tube blocks, and the condensation the AC produces every day backs up under the passenger-side carpet. Owners notice a damp mat or a musty smell on start-up and assume it is age. It is a blocked drain and wet padding, and it grows mold in a week. We clear the drain, extract the padding and treat the evaporator.

Leather, and why it goes first

Boca cars skew toward leather interiors, and leather is where mold shows first: a white or grey bloom along the stitching and on the seat bolsters. It is also where a wipe-down does the most harm, because it pushes spores into the grain. Our process on leather is steam, a dedicated antimicrobial safe for hides, and conditioning afterward so the seat does not crack. Fabric seats get heated extraction, which leather cannot take.

Golf carts and second cars

Boca has more second and third vehicles per household than anywhere we work, and the ones that move once a week are the ones that grow mold. A car that only goes to the club on Sundays never runs its AC long enough to dry the evaporator. We treat these regularly in the country-club communities, and the fix afterward is simple: run the AC on fresh air for the last five minutes of every drive.

Flooding on the east side

East Boca floods in heavy summer rain around Palmetto Park Road, the Golden Triangle and the older streets near the Intracoastal. A car on the street can take water past the sills in an afternoon downpour. Salt-tinged water in carpet padding does not dry on its own, and mold follows in days. That is the flood add-on: padding out, extended dry with a dehumidifier, and an honest word if the water reached the electronics.

Prevention is a phone call in April

Almost every seasonal mold case we treat could have been prevented for a fraction of the cost. A pre-storage treatment in April, windows cracked a finger, a moisture absorber on the floor and a fresh cabin filter, and the car comes out in November smelling like a car. We offer exactly that as a service, and we will remind you the following spring if you ask us to.

FAQ

Boca Raton questions, answered.

How much does car mold removal cost in Boca Raton?
$450 flat for a standard cabin with visible mold, travel included anywhere in Boca. Flood or water intrusion adds from $150 and a colonized AC evaporator or persistent odor adds from $95, both quoted after inspection and before work.
Can you treat the car before I get back in November?
Yes, and it is our most common Boca request. Give us the gate contact and access to the garage; we treat, dry and verify with a moisture reading, and send you photos. You open the door to a car that smells like a car.
Do you get into Boca West, Broken Sound or Woodfield?
Yes. $2,000,000 liability certificate and vendor registration completed before the appointment. Send us the resident or management contact when you book.
The mold is on the leather. Will the treatment damage the seats?
No. Leather gets steam, an antimicrobial that is safe for hides and a conditioner afterward. What damages leather is wiping the bloom with a household cleaner, which pushes spores into the grain and dries the hide.
The passenger mat is damp but there is no mold yet. Should I wait?
No. A damp mat means the AC drain is blocked and the padding is wet; mold starts in about a week. Clearing the drain and extracting the padding now is the standard $450 service. Waiting turns it into an odor and HVAC job.
Can you prevent it before I leave in April?
Yes. A pre-storage treatment, a fresh cabin filter, windows cracked and a moisture absorber prevents almost every seasonal case. Ask and we will remind you the following spring.
Is it safe to drive with mold in the car?
Not really; spores come out of the vents at face height, and children and anyone with asthma react first. AC off and windows down until it is treated.
How long does it take?
Four to six hours including the forced-dry. Flood cars and headliner cases go to the Doral studio overnight.
Will it come back?
Not if the moisture source is fixed. We identify it on every job and write it on your report; for seasonal cars the fix is the April routine above.
Are you licensed and insured in Palm Beach County?
Yes. Active Palm Beach County business license, $2,000,000 liability policy and IDA certification. Certificate available for your HOA.
